Position Title Specialist III/IV, Information Technology Department Office of the Registrar Position Summary Auburn University seeks an Information Technology Specialist to serve in the Office of the Registrar with primary and significant responsibilities for Degree Works, a degree audit program aligned with Banner. This position will serve as a hands-on technical lead for the team responsible for Degree Works. Essential functions include, but are not limited to: 1. Maintains both the technical and the functional area of the Degree Works electronic degree audits. 2. Analyzes and troubleshoots system problems concerning degree audits, student records and transcript; reviews current processes, evaluates and implements changes for improvement. 3. Secondary responsibilities include: automated routines of the Office of the Registrar for term functions in the Student Information System components of Banner. 4. Works collaboratively with all academic units, enrollment management, the Office of Information Technology, Advising, and other areas and individuals as necessary to ensure that the automated degree audit system operates efficiently and effectively. 5. Provides assistance and serves as a liaison to other departments for degree audit evaluations for all degree programs. Serves on college committees concerning curriculum as assigned. 6. Provides high quality service by effectively communicating with system users and others regarding features and options available in the automated degree audit system. 7. Identifies the data, information, and operational needs of users and other stakeholders as the needs relate to the automated degree audit system and curriculum planning. 8. Develops and disseminates instructional guides; develops and conducts training sessions for advisors, students and others as appropriate. Provides first line of contact for support questions from staff members. This is a continuing 12 month position with benefits and a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Minimum Qualifications Entry into applicant pool requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus five (5) years of experience in in hardware/software support and troubleshooting, use of tools required for writing ad hoc database queries, experience utilizing vendor support, ability to run time sensitive technical routines and maintain the scheduling of said routines. Employer will consider advanced degrees in lieu of experience. Strong written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to address technical issues in an understandable manner. Strong computer skills required, high proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and Access. Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills. Experience and proficiency with incorporating the use of technology. Ability to think critically and the ability to read, analyze and interpret technical manuals and governmental regulations. A desire to learn new technology and work outside of your technical comfort zone. Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment. Demonstrates initiative, drive, creativity, persistence and thoroughness.
